Cities in Motion Soundtrack
Original music composed for the Cities in Motion game trailer and The Third Era, an expansion that brought an 80s-inspired setting to the game. The soundtrack reflects that period through synthesised textures and atmospheric compositions, building mood and sense of place across the in-game experience.
Other music for the Cities in Motion series was contributed by other artists. This work covers the trailer productions and the ERA 3 content specifically, released by Paradox Interactive in 2012.
The trailer music in particular had to carry two jobs at once: set the pacing for the visual cuts while also standing on its own as a piece someone might listen to outside the game. The final arrangement leans on analogue-style synths and a restrained rhythmic backbone, aiming for the kind of atmosphere that makes a transit system feel cinematic rather than functional.
